In 1955, Producers Supply started a credit union to help their
customers make purchases. Producers Supply Credit Union
started at Producers Supply and was managed by Edith Gray. As
we grew, we moved to 13th and 3rd in the back of Case Furniture. Madge
Swanberg replace Edith Gray as CEO. We then shared a building
with Quinco Credit Union on 11th Avenue, followed by a move in
1995 to our present location at 123 McClure Avenue. With
a change in charter to become a community credit union, came
the name Valley Community Credit Union.
The name Valley Community Credit Union became a great match
to our Cascade branch, which opened in 1997, since Cascade is
in Valley County and Long Valley, in the Idaho mountains.
Ryan Drake began as CEO in January 2009. He is only the
third CEO at Valley Community Credit Union in 55 years. To
add to that, other employees have also stayed for tenures of
three to 12 years, making Valley Community a true home-town credit
union.
Valley Community Credit Union was formed to help people, and
today we are still here helping people. We like the credit
union philosophy, which is, “Not for Profit,” and “A
Tradition of People Helping People.”
We are here to serve our members. Members are people who
open an account with us. As one opens an account they become
an owner. Our goal is to serve the needs of our owners
who use the credit union rather than share holders who may not
do business here or a paid board of directors who may have nothing
to do with our business. Our board is a volunteer board. Each
member is able to vote for the board members and run for the
board themselves. |
